"I don't want to see the Farm Bill killed," said Giffords, whose district has received about $10.6 million per year in subsidies over the last five years, according to Environmental Defense, a Washington, D.C.-based conservation group. "There are a lot of very good things about this bill."
Most Republicans and some Democrats oppose the Farm Bill, while President Bush has promised to veto it. The bill is supported by the Democratic leadership. One has to wonder if Giffords even knows what is in the bill. http://www.azstarnet.com/allheadlines/193537
Even the Arizona Daily Star (azstarnet) has some second thoughts - "We urge members of Congress, and particularly Arizona's delegation, to carefully weigh all aspects of the bill and strike a fair balance in funding that will do the most good for the most people."
